Baltimore Police Department Launches Pilot of Kaiden AI to Modernize Training

BALTIMORE, MD – July 31, 2026 – The Baltimore Police Department (BPD), one of the largest municipal police departments in the United States, has launched a pilot of Kaiden AI, an AI-powered simulation training platform purpose-built for law enforcement, at the Baltimore Police Academy.

Kaiden AI will support BPD with realistic, repeatable scenario-based training — giving recruits and officers structured practice in communication, procedural justice, de-escalation, crisis response, and critical decision-making before they have to perform in live-action scenarios and before they hit the street.

The pilot covers BPD's academy and in-service training programs, where officers will train on interactive scenarios built from the Department's own policies and Maryland training standards — including use-of-force decision-making, crisis intervention, community interaction, and report writing. Instructors control scenario design and evaluation criteria, so training stays consistent with BPD standards across every recruit class.

The pilot supports the Department's broader efforts to strengthen officer readiness and modernize how practical skills are developed and evaluated throughout academy and in-service training.
